~The Lore of Guatemalan Milagros
~

Kate and I were captivated by the beautiful, tiny milagros we discovered in the highland markets of Guatemala several years ago. Milagro means miracle or surprise and the indigenous Maya as well as Hispanic cultures value them as prayer offerings and thanks for answered prayers. They are found in many shapes ~birds, fish, hearts, arms and legs, horseshoes, owls, crosses, hands. Women also wear them as talismen in their necklaces, referring to the bird or animal that is believed to be their personal spirit ~an animistic alter ego or nahual.

We have cast our original milagros in both 18kt gold and sterling silver. Individual milagros can be combined to create a custom piece ~necklace, earrings or bracelet with several milagros of your choosing.

Australian Boulder Opal Ring

Australia is the only continent in the world where the stunning and magical boulder opals are mined. This particular opal appears as a vein found in a matrix of ironstone. I didn't travel to Oz to find this but am pleased with the choice of setting in a sculpted sterling bezel with a substantial shank that gives it a bold persona. The bezel has a soft matte finish which softens it a bit. Sorry to tease you but this one has sold.

Coral Branch Pendant with Peridot

Cast in solid sterling silver and set with a tiny green peridot. The original coral branch was found on a beach in Exuma, Bahamas. No, it was not alive at the time ~ a reminder of the fragile ecology of the coral reef. Length 2"; Pendant only $165.
