Traveling in Morocco several years ago, I found some old Mauritanian conus shell hair ornaments in the Marrakesh souk. I only wish I'd bought more at the time. These shells or "koos" have been used for body ornamentation and trade since 20,000 B.C. and were also highly valued as currency. Prong set bezel; file-carved sterling silver clasp. $150.
I live by the sea on the coast of Maine ~ my studio is a stone's throw from the shore. I am inspired by... and curious about most things marine.
During the frigid winter
months in Maine, I am fortunate to live on a sailboat in Central America with my chronically adventurous husband. For more on that, visit www.dejavuchronicles.blogspot.com
Less is more.
In my studio by the sea,
I transform fine and sterling silver, granite, brimstone, semi-precious stones and primitive artifacts found in my travels ~ into wearable, minimalist works of art.
